Progress Report – 22 June

Reason to live

Today, Matthew is doing well. He remains stable, although he is becoming more aware. Decisions about a tracheostomy will be delayed until Monday, but the hope is that he will be able to breath on his own. He is showing signs of discomfort with the tube around his mouth, but his temperature is back down. He has some fluid on his lungs, and his physiotherapist Felicity has her job cut out each morning in helping clear this.

Kate and Jason had to return to Rockhampton today, but visited Matthew before they left with the feeling he remains in really good hands.

Thought for the day from Luke and Ben on why they love their daddy: Luke – ‘Because he plays with Emily’, and Ben – ‘Because he is lots of fun’.

Rachel’s update to the troops read:

Hi there. Matthew is ok. Fighting hard, and he just opened his eyes and responded to me.  He is still very much in and out of sedation, and a long way to go but he is ok for now. We believe he is on the improve. At last.

He is amazing.

  1. My life was very blessed the day we all met you.
A source of quiet strength and we’re always so happy to see you.
The Ames family are beautiful, each and every one.
The magic is alive them all and so is the fun.
Everyone in the Duncan Family have been touched by Matthew’s grace.
We pray every day to keep Matthew in this world’s space!
