Meeting the Wallabies

Well there’s always an upside. Here’s an e-mail from Matthew regarding a visit to meet the Wallabies while they were in Brisbane last week for their match against the Lions on the 23rd of June:

It’s been a pretty busy week! Today Luke and I were very lucky to be able to meet the Wallabies prior to their test match with the British Irish Lions. Just in case your Rugby union knowledge is a little bit wanting, the attached photos are with Robbie Deans (coach), James Horwill (Australian captain) and James O’Connor (Luke’s favourite player).

The tickets were organised by one of the dads at school, Greg Denny, who works with the Australian Rugby Union. The fourth photo is with Rocky and Derani Mileto. Rocky works part-time with Australian Rugby union and has started a foundation to support injured rugby players. Here is the link: http://www.heartsinunion.com.au/Welcome.html

It was a great experience. A big thanks to Greg and the Australia Rugby Union, it was fantastic to meet the players and also Rocky and Derani – they do some amazing work.

A huge thanks for everyone involved in the visit. Moments like these are important for the kids, but it’s also a great opportunity for Matthew to meet other inspirational people such as Rocky. It’s a big help on what’s going to be a long journey and is another demonstration of the generosity of others in being so willing to give of their time and spirit.
